Now in its fith year, The MILANO international FINE ART & ANTIQUES SHOW has grown to become a much-anticipated event by collectors, academics, enthusiasts by vocation, investors from Italy and abroad – all brought together by the pursuit of quality, the joy of discovery, the temptation of a purchase as a precious investment for years to come. These are the motivations the Milanese exhibition satisfies, thanks in particular to the meticulous selection of participants and consequently the excellent array of articles proposed.

With over 40% of exhibitors representing foreign galleries and publishing houses from eight different European and North American countries, The MILANO international FINE ART & ANTIQUES SHOW is in its scope the second-largest event of its kind in Europe. The Vetting Committee and the Committee of Honour also have an international dimension, featuring not only important members of the institutions and the business
community, but also the consoles of the countries represented by participants.

Before the show commences, a special committee composed of authoritative phi-lologists, art historians and experts exami-nes the exhibits of each sector and period represented to assure their authenticity and that the standards of historic value are consonant with the prestige of the event.

Published in large format (32.5 x 24.5) in both Italian and English remains as testimony to the show, featuring colour reproductions and a thorough collection of technical and bio-bibliographical sheets compiled with the assistance of the exhibitors themselves.

Milan, the economic and cultural centre of Italy, not to mention capital of design and fashion, is also home to deep-rooted cultural traditions and collections, where all facets of its historical heritage strive together in the pursuit of the avant-garde, in constant evolution. In such a context of cultural sensitivity and participation, the MiAS has asserted its success as the focus of the art and antiques market in Italy. Milan, host to veritable artistic gems: from the Pinacoteca di Brera to Bramante's wonderful Chiesa di Santa Maria delle Grazie with da Vinci's Last Supper in the Cenacolo Vinciano; from the churches of San Lorenzo, Sant’Eustorgio and Sant’ Ambrogio, the Castello Sforzesco to the Biblioteca Ambrosiana; from the Piccolo Teatro through to the Scala; whatever takes your fancy, Milan offers an infinite number of leisure-time opportunities, including an enormous variety of theatres, museums, private galleries and boutiques to satisfy all tastes.

Set in the very heart of Milan, in the historic Palazzo della Società per le Belle Arti ed Esposizione Permanente, to which the internal layout of the
show – this year with a renewed chromatic scheme – is inspired. This national monument was built in 1886 in the neoclassical style, designed by the eclectic Luca Beltrami, who also took part in the works of the Parisian Trocadero and the Palais de l’Exposition Universelle.

Now one of the not-to-be-missed cultural and social events of the year for Milan and beyond, the inauguration (on invitation only) will be held on Friday April 4th 2003, preceded by an afternoon preview.

In the loggia or the 19th rooms of the Palazzo, enjoy a moment of relaxation or treat yourself to something delicious.
